So this sounds really cool.. in theory.

When I read this I blindly started asking co-workers how they use their microwaves, mainly do they keep an eye on the items while they cook? The most common answer being “yes” they DO watch their food and for cooking reasons. Seems the people I’ve been asking share the same sentiment I do where microwaving is concerned… we just don’t do it often. But when we do it’s usually something that demands a little attention.

So knowing that, would *I* be thrilled with having the view to my food permanently obstructed? Probably not. HOWEVER, give me the option to peer in or watch clips, sign me up.

The site has a small video of it working. Here

For all I know, written in this article IS an option to turn it off, but with the LCD being a layer in the door it seems unlikely.

LAIKA - An interactive font.

With LAIKA, there is finally a font that can seamlessly use the whole spectrum of its cuts. A font that is able to move between its extremes in real time. An interactive font that is able to respond to its surroundings. A font that questions deadlocked dogmas and throws up completely new design questions, and thus has the potential to revolutionise the understanding of digital typography.

A video experimental conceived by Akten Memo in connection with the particles developed in the shape of gold dust. All the interactions are entirely controlled by the movement of the cameras. A project developed in openFrameworks.

// Reality Checking Device//

The Reality Checking Device is a tangible, interactive information graphic. It allows people to physically navigate a set of hazards by sliding their finger along a touch panel. The Reality Checking Device delivers a visual response that reveals the relation between public outrage and actual hazard. It helps people to identify the risks they are actually faced with, in opposition to the anxieties that they might have.
